The members of the religious community called by several researchers under the name of “AssyroChaldean”, are essentially adherents of The Eastern Assyrian Church founded in the land of Persia during the first century of christianity. While Chaldeans have adhered to the Catholic Church in the 16th century, Assyrians have opted to remain faithful to the religious principles of the Eastern Assyrian Church. After a brief view of the history of Eastern Assyrian Church that had been the ancient church before the theological rupture, this study will analyze social and political situation of the Assyro-Chaldean community living as one of the religious minorities within the Islamic Republic of Iran, under the islamic statute of “dhimma”
