Nowadays, one of the problems problems of rapid urbanization is the individuals’ sportive recreation necessity. Planning of sportive recreation areas in urban parks is getting important to fulfill of these individuals' necessity. In this context, to determine the opinions of the authorized who take role in the planning of the parks that offer sportive recreation services is compose the aim of this study. In order to realize this aim, the planning process of the parks for sportive recreation in Karaman province and the viewpoint of the authorities involved in this process were determined as working material. The study is carried out with the municipal authorities composed of experts who could put forward opinions in this direction and this study is limited with authorities who work in Karaman Municipality. The study is a qualitative study and the situation analysis approach has adopted within the framework of qualitative research design in this study. The personal information form and the questions prepared by the interviewer were verbally addressed to the participants. After the thematic content coding, four themes have been created as sportive recreation concept, sportive recreation service, urban quality of life concept and urban quality of life service. As a result of the findings it was determined that participants do not have knowledge of sportive recreation concept and also they describe the concept of urban quality of life with the highly offering rate of the cultural, artistic and sporting activities and entertainment opportunities to the public. Participants emphasized the necessity of increasing the multifunctional parking areas for improving the quality of urban life by local governments and participants also emphasized the effectiveness of the appropriateness of zoning plan, cost, population density and demands to define these parks. Another finding obtained from the views of the participants, it was determined that the parks offered sportive recreation services with the aim of to improve urban quality of life are not enough for the Karaman public however, it has been also determined that the efforts carry on to eliminate this deficiency. As a result, although it has seen that the authorized who are involved in the planning of the sportive recreation services are working with devotion in this area, in-service training in the recreation area is expected to increase the functionality of this planning and enable the studies to be carried out in more accordance with the purpose.
