The purpose of this study is to compare the Republic of Turkey and the Turkic Republics have experienced unique political processes, from the perspective of political psychology. With the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the Turkic States with their common cultural heritage, ethnic and social ties with Turkey declared their independence. The proclamation of independence was followed by the process of building the nation state, the national identity and political institutionalization. In this study, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkey were compared in terms of political psychology variables such as political participation, perceptions of national identity and belonging and attitudes towards the political system, using the World Values Survey. The results of the analysis indicate significant differences between countries in terms of all variables. Findings were discussed in the light of the related literature and suggestions for future research were presented.
