The aim of this research is 5th to determine the effects of comprehension strategies used in Turkish courses on students reading comprehension levels. The research was conducted in academic year in a state school located in the city center of Bursa in Turkey. In the reaserch employing pre-test, post-test, control group design in a 10-week-long period, experimental group were exposed to comprehension strategies with developed by the researcher the use of activities; in the meantime, control group continued studying in woorkbook’s. To determine the students' comprehension levels, both groups were administered scales developed by the researcher as pre-test and post-test, named Reading Comprehension Test (RCT). In the way of interpretation of pre-tests and post-tests, a pairedsamples t-test and Wilcoxon test was used for intra-group analysis, while an independent samples t-test and Mann Withney U test for inter-group analysis was utilized. Thus, reading comprehension levels of the students were measured. According to the results of the research, the reading activities based on reading comprehension strategies to develop the students’ learning levels in the experiment group were more effective than the traditional reading activities applied on the control group.
