The aim of this study is to examine the effect of the group counseling program for improving family communication. This is a quasi-experimental study using pretest-posttest with experimental and control groups. The study group consists of students who continue their education in a primary school in Polatl? district of Ankara province in 2016-2017 academic year and their mothers. The number of participants are 24 (12 experimental and 12 control groups) parents and 24 (12 experimental groups and 12 control groups) students. The research data was collected using "Personal Information Form", "Communication Skills Scale" and "Family Relations Scale for Children". The data collected within the study were analyzed by the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test for related measures and Mann Whitney U Test. As a result of the analyzes made; it was found that there was a significant difference between the pre-experiment and post-experiment scores of the Communication Skills Scale of the members who participated in the research. All the results were discussed with related research findings in the literature and recommendations were made.
