Labor force, one of the production factors, is an important position for economic development. The fact that, half of the world population is women reveals the importance of women in the labor market and consequently in terms of economy. Today, women's participation in the workforce remains low compared to men. In the study, the effects of the female workforce on economic development are examined by considering the full member and candidate countries of the EU. Analysis was conducted with 34 countries (not included in the analysis, since most of Kosovo's data is not included in the World Bank database). Statistical data was for the period between2000-2018 and panel data analysis was applied. The series were first made stationary and then panel cointegration test was applied. As a result of the tests, when the variables representing the female workforce are considered together, there is a positive relationship between economic development and female workforce in long-term.
