This study has been conducted with the aim of determining at which level fundemantal technical skills in the syllabus of the first grade piano lesson are acquired by the students of the Department Music Education. The study is important with regard to pointing out at which level related techniques are acquired or are not acquired and determining the source of various technical problems that can be faced. In the study, fundamental technical subjects that are required be acquired by the students through the 1st grade (1st term-2nd term) definitions of piano lesson within the scope of Music Teaching Undergraduate Program of the Board of Higher Education. These tecnical subjects, have been transformed into survey questions with the aim of determining student views related to their acqusition levels. The survey at stake has been carryed out 64 students which studying in first grade in Music Departments of Marmara University, Abant ?zzet Baysal University and Trakya University in spring term in 2014-2015 education period. In the study, we have reached the conclusion that of all the first grade students of the Department Music Education, %15,6 are capable of carrying out “the tecnic of playing Legato, %33 are capable of carrying out the tecnic of playing Staccato, %15,6 are capable of carrying out performing with finger independency, %17,2 are capable of carrying out performing with two hands independency, %17,2 are capable of carrying out performing with free arm swing, %10,9 are capable of carrying out performing any musical expression, %4,7 are capable of carrying out performing sentence structures.
