In addition to giving birth to humanbeing, women cannot be underestimated for their important contributions to society and their superior roles in social life, culture and civilization, and in the progress of science and technology throughout human history. Despite all such superior sacrifices of women, we have been sadly witnessing physical violence and murder against women both in the family and on the street. ?ndeed; violence and murder events against women, which are seen both in our country and in other parts of the world, are one of the most important increasing social problems of modern world. To be honest, as well as violence and murder events against women, another important issue that disturbs public conscience is that people who witness themselves and other members of the society themselves most of the time/generally remain silent and inactive against such wrongful acts. The subject of this article will be the functionalization of self-defense in the context of justified defense in cases of violence and murder against women according to Islamic law.
