THE FACE, EYE AND HAIR IMAGERIES IN MASNAWI OF MEM AND ZIN

Ahmedi Khani who is one of the Kurdish literature poets of classical period has written a masnawi subject to love story as well as religious works. The name of this turkish written masnawi is Mem and Zin and consists of 2662 couplets. The most important and well known work of Khani’s this masnavi is about the love of two lovers and two beloveds. This work has a perfect plot and wording. Khani has used so many literary arts and applied so many figures of speech. He has discussed most elements like the eye, face, hair, eyebrow and lip of lover with a literary style while describing love and has mentioned to effects on the lover. Beauty elements are most emphasised subjects in classical ottoman poetry. To know what meanings Khani attribute to this elements and handle in what kind of figures of speech will help us to know the literary aspect of him. In this work, we will just put emphasis on the meanings of face, eye and hair elements are attributed.
