In Turkish mythology, the fight between the father and the son, which symbolizes the conflict of cosmos-chaos has become a fight between the old and the new, the customs and the anomie, due to the conception of folklore. The motif of the father and the son has commonly taken place in Turkish legends and tales. The fight has taken place in various styles such as in the customs and inheritance or psychological causes and then to the fights, which result in deaths because of jealousy . In the literature of folklore, this motif has had various semantic meanings like the victory of the son, the victory of the old over the new, the young over the old, the custom over the chaos. This study has focused on three dimensions of the fight between the father and the son. With samples of our legends, functionality of the contrast in mythological context in terms of epic rules has been shown
