Rural development is an essential factor of regional development. For this reason one of the biggest obstacles that could be seen before the development of the Southeastern Anatolian Region is the failure of effort shown towards rural development. Backwardness used in support for rural areas being the target of terrorism in Turkey shows the importance of rural development. Following a parallel course to regional development, rural development is an area PKK terrorism prevents as well as enhancing its appeal. The social movements seen especially in the Eastern and South Eastern Anatolia Region are impacts of geographic and socioeconomic unfortunateness as well as acts of terrorism. The relationship between rural development and terrorism has been the focus of this research. The barriers and obstacles before rural development and the current sitution has been presented alongside solutions. The research sample is formed from 9 villages in the Ergani district of the Diyarbak?r province. Topics that have been examined are immigration, terrorism, rural development, violence and fear.
