Profession is the phenomenon of a vital activity coming out as a result of division of labour that the social economical and technological factors require. Profession of teaching has originated from those social and economical changes that have arisen in societies. Thus, It is possible to describe it as “a professional group that has social, cultural, economic and scientific dimensions that are related to education sector” or “a specialized profession that takes charge of administrative function of government in terms of education, teaching and other related areas”. Profession of teaching is based upon a specialization on a certain field, teaching skills, didactics and some certain personal characteristics that the profession requires. For one to do one’s job, one has to have knowledge and skills on a defined area at proficient levels. This is known as the “teacher’s area of expertise”. That one is a specialist in one field doesn’t necessarily mean that one will convey the knowledge and the skills one is supposed to have. This being the case, an individual must have the professional skill and didactics, the vital equipment for instruction, in order to convey his knowledge or skills that he has professionally. The necessary knowledge, skills and proficiency for education to reach its target is related to the artistic aspect of the profession of teaching. While providing the knowledge about his area of expertise for the individual by using his teaching skills efficiently, a person should have some basic personal characteristics like lenience, patience, open-mindedness, flexibility, being implementer adapter, tenderness, being empathetic and humorous, encouraging and supportive etc. That the profession requires. It is necessary that, to be able to be efficient in a profession, one should have personal characteristics that are suitable for his profession. Those who choose “teaching” as a profession should have knowledge about their subject, ability to teach and personal characteristics which are related to the profession. This is so much related to completing the mission that is attributed to that profession.
