In this study, the news, articles and reviews published about Samsun are examined between the 1914-1923 periods in The New York Times, one of the most important newspaper in the United States of America. The goal of reviewing the date range: 1914-1923 is to try to put forth how the American public perceive the events in Samsun according to the writings published in the American Press in The Great War period, between the years 1914-1918 and the following Turkish National Struggle ending in 1923. When all these writings in the newspaper are analysed, it is obvious that The New York Times made important observations about the Samsun within the period set. But using a subjective and one-sided language of the newspaper in an insistent way, - especially on the political content of news and commentary about the Greeks and Armenians- is remarkable. In this regard, in the case of The New York Times, the role of western media’s perspective to the developments in Turkey is undeniable, in terms of formation of a negative view of Turks and Turkey on the public opinion of Europe and America.
