THE NOVEL “IN DEBT (DEYNDAR)” IN THE CONTEXT OF THE FOLK NARRATIVES, FOLK BELIEFS, SOCIAL RITUALS AND MAGIC REALISM

Abstract

Author(s): Ä°lyas AKMAN

As the Zaza literature has been developed during the last years, some new novel books also have been published. One of those novels was Deyndar (in debt) which was written by Hesen Dilawer Dêrsim in 2014. One of the important points of this novel is that it focuses on the elements of folklore and folk literature. Folk narratives, beliefs, and rituals which were created by effects of the former two were carefully given attention in the separate section of the novel. While the elements which were used by the writer make the novel fantastic and legendary, at the same time, it invites the readers to the abode of fairies. In order to strengthen the fairylegendary aspect of his novel and approximate it to the folk narratives, the writer also applies magic realism in his work.
