Nâbî and Sâbit, among the poets of the 17 th Century, aimed at showing the right path and advising; headed for satiric, humorous and philosophical styles as they gave importance to the issues related to life and society; especially emphasized in their poems on the pencil which represented enlightenment and knowledge; gave information on the importance, functions, structure and types of the pencil and on how it should be protected. Nâbî and Sâbit expressed the qualities of a good poem and a good poet, the sense of art in the period and of themselves, the poets they had been influenced and they had influenced in their poems with the images they created around the pencil. The pencil in Classical Turkish poetry was also used sometimes as the main topic and sometimes as a tool to reach what was expected with various metaphors and figurative expressions by the other poets besides Nâbî and Sâbit. In the article, the Divans of Nâbî and Sâbit were taken as the basis in order to reflect the perspectives of Nâbî and Sâbit who are the important figures of philosophical and satiric style on the pencil and it was attempted to give information on the importance, functions, shape, types of the pencil, literary understandings of the period and the poets, etc. with the metaphors and figurative expressions.
