The purpose of this paper is to reveal the relations between the Democratic Party (DP) which came into power in 1950 and the press of the period and examine the concept of the partisan press. In that period during which DP was in power, the world was going through a transformation and Turkey was affected by that transformation both socially and politically. There was an emphasis on DP's activities and their press policies in the power they came into with the statements of liberal, democratic order and liberal economy. The period between 1950 and 1954 represents a critical phase in terms of both democratization and economy. Negativities which emerged after 1954 and DP's unjust relations with the press were in play. The subject of this study includes the fact that the press, which had been in the struggle for rights and freedoms for years, were liberated with the freedom promised by DP but how short that period was, the emergence of the concept of partisan press and its reflections today. There are several studies regarding the Democratic Party Era; however, the number of papers specifically addressing the partisan press is very few. Thus, this study will make an imperative contribution to the literature. The study is composed of three titles. It was conducted as a result of a broad literature review.
