Tools and methods used by translators in the translation process change every single day with the presence of communication and information technologies. As a result, new special fields are born. The diversification of speciality contributes to the change of roles and duties of translators. In this respect, one of the fields affected by the computer technologies is localization. Today, localization industry is more popularised than the translation industry. In this study, game localisation was defined with its features and whether it can be considered as a new specialized field of translation or not in Turkey was imvestigated. Besides, whether game localization can be regarded as a professional activity than being an amateur activity or not was shown. For this purpose, the position of game localization was questioned in academic instutions in Turkey and a curriculum analysis was carried out. To do a consistent analysis, three state and three foundation universities were chosen: Istanbul University, Bo?aziçi University, Sakarya University, Yeditepe University, ?zmir Ekonomi University and Bilkent University.
