Russia, which started to occupy the Kyrgyz lands since the second half of the 19th century, confiscated the fertile lands of the people with various excuses with a planned colonial policy. Russia also brings the citizens of Ukraine and settled to this fertile land. In addition to the heavy tax policy it implements, the people are forced to rebel against Tsarist Russia many times at the cost of their lives, trying to control itself through oppression and persecution through the unpredictable managers. However, the Kyrgyz people who have almost no means of war against the Russian army equipped with the technological equipment of that era cannot succeed. Especially in 1898 Anciyan and the events of Ürkün in 1916, the Kyrgyz Turks’ revolts against the inhuman practices and occupation and exploitation policies, which were revered with national consciousness and turned into a national struggle. The poets who were instrumental in the formation of Kyrgyz cultural history are also a part of this life. The Kyrgyz poets who personally witnessed what happened, also mentioned the Russians’ imperialist practices for the occupation, exploitation and assimilation started in the Kyrgyz lands since the second half of the 19th century; they express in real life the destruction of these practices in the life of the people and in its offensive works. Poets, who have an open mind to evaluate the past, the state and the future together and who are accepted as the intellectuals of the time, witness the history with their poems.
