Since the rapid increase in the world population forces contemporary conditions to change, innovative technologies regarding environmental impact are developed and applied in every sector including handicrafts. Handicrafts sector being the oldest manufacturing sector in the world, is inevitably augmented by the technology and will continue to be augmented in the future. This challenge makes handicrafters to think of employing design as an asset to maintain the demands of the market as a whole. Design is known as a powerfull means to influence users by creating a positive interaction, feeling or experience. For this reason, sustainable design is often expressed as the planning of physical objects, environments and service to comply with economic, social continuation to provide this influence. The goal of sustainable design is to reduce the negative environmental impact. Thus, this paper aims to draw attention to the limits of sustainable design in handicrafts field and to the responsibility of the designer working in handicrafts sector for the cultural sustainability
