Poverty is a globally reflection of economic and social devastation. The poor cannot meet their basic needs in order to survive. Approximately 600 million people suffering from food poverty each year become ill because they cannot access safe food, and 420 thousand of them result in death. Combating food poverty has become a priority policy for national and international organizations. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), published by the United Nations, give priority to poverty and hunger-related goals in terms of sorting. In this context, many of the organizations that have an important role in fighting food poverty carry out their activities under the umbrella of solidarity economy. One of them is food banks. In this study, the role of reducing food poverty, food banks are assessed through organizations in the world and Turkey.
