THE ROLE OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AGENCIES IN INCREASING REGIONAL COMPETITIVENESS: GEKA EXAMPLE

In increasing regional competitiveness has become the main target of regional development agencies after 1980s when globalization is accelerate. In increasing regional competition via regional development agencies has accelerated to development. In this context regional development agencies has stimulated the source of the region and thus has increased regional competitiveness as a local actor.

The purpose of the study examines role of the regional development agencies in increasing regional competitiveness. For this purpose PEST and SWOT analysis were carry out for GEKA. In study it has been concluded that contributes to regional competitiveness through agency that fosters dynamism to the region.
