The markets and fairs were one of the attractive features of the economic organizations in the middle ages. They were named differantly in the East and West but their aims were same. The aim of markets was local but the aim of fairs were international. And the fairs have an important role to the end of the 13th century. There were many of these markets and fairs. They were acccepted as international events eveywhere.They were very suitable to the structure of Europe. The fairs that appeared at the end of the middle ages have differant features. The fairs brought liveliness to the economic life. And also if we want to understand the trade or beginning of trade, firstly we must learn the role of markets and fairs in the middle ages. Really these places were impportant that gave differant sealing possibilities to the merchants and also created the international trade. They must be evaluated and understood in the Medieval cpnditions by people well. Because they provided that merchants travelled. In this paper, we study to tell the thought of the markets and fairs, the importance of them and espicially their contributions to the trade and also do comparing with markets and fairs in the Turkish-Islamic World.
