THE ROLE OF TOURISM IN GLOBAL SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS: THE EXAMPLE OF TURKEY

Sustainable development grounds on global approach with economic, environmental and social aspects “from micro effect to the macro effect” compatibly actualise change-progress phase. In this regard, United Nations (UN) with co-desicions and common goals in global sustainable development on the point of international cooperation and consensus, play an important part in creating right environment for global sustainable development. In this context, between 25th and 27th of September at New York, United Nations Sustainable Development Summit 2015 came true. At this summit, 193 member Country of UN accepted agreement of “Transforming Our World: 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda” which mainly consists of 17 global sustainable development goals. In this study, 17 sustainable development goals which affirmed by 193 UN Countries are examined on account of tourism and contribution of tourism in Turkey to these goals is also revealed by numeric data.
