In this study, Sabahattin Ali’s tale of “De?irmen” will be discussed by analysing text semiologically. As the semiological analysis method, the method that has been theorised by Greimas in accordance with signification semiological analysis will be used. The semiology, first practices of which were executed on written texts, is one of access to text methods. The goal of the semiology, which studies written texts, is to discuss meaning and signification. In this regard, analysing the text and comprehending the meaning of the text will be possible by taking its context into consideration and working through as a whole, but not by assigning a meaning to each word. The goal of the semiology is to find out how the meaning is constituted more than what is the meaning. Semiological text analysis method, which follows process of –from the superficial patterns to deep patterns-, consists of three levels: Discoursive level, narrative level and logical-lexical (semantic de olabilir emin olamad?m) level. On the discoursive level, discourse built by time, extent and the fact doers become actors is put forward. Narrative and semiologic patterns are other phase of analysing text superficially. The most important means to describe narrative text on superficial level is ‘schema of doers (actors da olabilir)’. We may encounter these units called “doers” in narration as not only humans but only abstract concepts. Logical-lexical level is the final phase of semiotic analysis on which minor units of signification are handled. On this level, semiotic square, on which basic contrasts are put forward, is used. Facts set forth on discourse and narration level constitute deep pattern by conjoining on logical-lexical level. On this level abstract thinking take place, the aim is to make readers to attain abstract thinking.
