In order to understand a society, it is very important to understand how the society uses the city. Transformation in urban space understanding social change is not possible without understanding. Urban studies is an field that needs to be focused on in order to comprehend the structure of society and the transformations it undergoes. The occurrence of segregation in the urban space often led to the formation of ghettoization. The ghettoization; it can be defined as being forced to live in a region by political power or dominant groups, taking into account the economic, social and political status of a particular community. Ghetto is a structure that does not interact with social reality outside of itself. Nowadays, the concept of ghettoization is also used for the formation of voluntary ghettos in social practice. Individuals belonging to a particular class in the social space have chosen to live in a closed sociality by voluntarily separating themselves from “others” ve and with individuals from them. Therefore, these groups that cover themselves outside constitute voluntary ghettos. This social segregation in the urban space causes individuals to withdraw from the public sphere and lead an introverted life. In this study; examining the concept of ghettoization in urban space, public problems caused by social segregation will be discussed in the context of Richard Sennett's concept of ‘Fear of Exposure
