THE SON WHOM PROPHET ABRAHAM SOUGHT TO SACRIFICE ACCORDING TO QURAN

Abstract

Author(s): Necdet ÜNAL

Prophet Abraham is accepted as a common value for the followers of three Abrahamic religions. And there is an ongoing discussion whether it was Ismail or Ishaq whom Prophet Abraham sought to sacrifice. He is believed to be Ismail in Islam whereas he is believed to be Ishaq according to Judaism. In this study, we will discuss this issue in the context of the verses of Quran. We will also examine the verses of the Bible wherever needed, and will share the findings at the end.
