Haldun Taner is one of the versatile writers of Turkish Literature in the Republican period. Through using humor as a powerful social criticism tool, he explains in his works all kinds of events, social or political and the daily lives, frailities of the ordinary people. The stories of the author reflects the combination of "social" one and the "individual" one. Humor has become the most important tool of the author in this combination. In this way, Taner becomes a realistic writer who reflects the society through using humor. In this study, through the stories of Haldun Taner’s books Ya?as?n Demokrasi (1949), Tu? (1951), ?i?hane’ye Ya?mur Ya??yordu (1953), Ay?????nda “Çal??kur” (1954), On ?kiye Bir Var (1954), Konçinalar (1967), Sancho’nun Sabah Yürüyü?ü (1969); the ways through which the author uses the humor and his social critiques will be examined
