The purpose of this research; the purpose of this study is to dye the wool carpet and cotton rug by dyeing the dried flower parts of the yellow starthistle (Centaurea behen) plant and to determine the light, friction and washing fastness of the colors obtained from the dyeings. Following the genus Centaurea terms of number of species of Astragalus in Turkey flora 3 and Verbascum species is as well. Species belonging to the genus Centaurea in Turkey usually stony limestone cliffs, vineyards, roadsides, shores edge, step, shrubs, fallow fields, sandy beaches, forests, dry meadows, rocky slopes like is grown in many different habitats. In this research, as a material, yellow starthistle flowers were collected and dried in Malatya-Ye?ilyurt region. A total of 50 dyeings (25 wool rugs, 25 cotton rugs) were made by using 8 types of (natural and chemical) mordant with and without mordant. Light, friction and washing fastness of the yarns after dyeing were measured and evaluated.
