The present study aimed to identify Elementary Music Curriculum (2017) genres of music listening situations in the achievements of the students of the program and its impact on the music genre preferences in Turkish Education system’s student who continue to 8th grade middle school. For the purposes of this study, middle school’s 8th grade gains of music education were analyzed in the music genre. The questionnaires administered to listen to this music genre status of the students have been identified. Some data were obtained from survey work. The obtained results are expressed in percentage (%) and frequency (f) tables. Elementary Music Curriculum in the analysis of results, some types of music has been found to be more intense. Finding the type of music are: pop music, jazz music, Turkish folk music, Turkish classical music and classical music. According to the data obtained from surveys for involved in the program from a questionnaire to identify the type of music, a large part of pop music students “completely”, Turkish folk music “very little” is listening. Students of jazz music, Turkish classical music and western classical music is never listen. Each level of pop, jazz, Turkish folk music, Turkish classical music, classical music and other genres of music to listen to students,who choose the types of music they’re listening to music while mostly affected, of course, are influenced by media.
