The Turks have established states on a wide geography and constructed dominations. The Turks, who were continuously in touch with sky and heavens, invented the calendar in order to make the time functional by this way. Within this context, Orkhon Inscriptions have distinct importance in justification of the vocabulary belonging to heavens. The concept of tengri used frequently in the inscriptions was used in the meaning of “sky”, “heavens” and “god”. This situation shows us that the sky and heavens are inseparable elements of their lives. Historically, Turkmen Language evaluated in Oghuz group is in south-west group in dialect classification. In terms of its linguistic properties, Turkmen Language both carries Oghuz characteristics and contains the effects of Chagatai and Kypchak. In our study, the interest of the Turks in heavens has been investigated in specification of Turkmen Language.
