TRADE ROUTES IN TOKAT Ä°N THE PREHISTORIC PERIOD

Tokat was located on the important trade routes throughout history due to its location. These trade routes were used from Assyrian trade colonies peridod to today was disposed by states that commended the region. People were intensively doing copper business around Tokat in Assyrian Trade Colonies Period. We see that Masat Höyük in Tokat was located on important trade routes in Hittites period and this place was an important military base for Hittites besides its importance in terms of trade. In the ancient Hellenic -Roman Civilization period, Sebastoplis and Konana were located on important trade routes. Komana, besides being a religious center, become a popular trade center in the region by means of festivals.
