Dressing is one of the cultural values handed down from generation to generation reflecting cultural traditions of cultures. Among those cultural values, traditional weaving and dressing, their production techniques, materials used, pattern and application techniques are important sources that carry past to present time. Nowadays, with the rapid development of technology and together with change of life styles of people, diversities have appeared in dressings and their uses. Protection of properties of the values that reflect our culture, keeping them alive and handing down to future generations are of paramount importance. In this research traditional dressing that begin to be forgotten and interpreting dress design in direction of todays trends and contrubuting to coming to life with redesigns of our cultural values are aimed. In the direction of this aim, properties of göynek collars used in women underwear in Ayanc?k district of Sinop province göynek tradition mostly used in the past but forgotten nowadays are aimed to come into rememberance of ?ts use and put into use again with new designs and interpretations. Applications have been realised such that use of cultural objects will bring in orginality to designs. At the same time, the fact that Sinop Ayanc?k linen weaving and Ayanc?k göynek collars have taken geopraphcial signs, is considered that present work will make a significant contribution to Turkish cultur and development of cultural values.
