While sociology deals with macro-structures such as society, community and institution within the social structure, on the other hand general dynamic processes such as development, change and differentiation are tackled. In fact, sociology examines and addresses the values that are at the basis of those aforementioned structures and processes. In this respect, while the dynamic processes such as social development, social dissolution and social change are explained in sociology, the functionality of values and the essence of value changes are addressed. Eventually, the changes in the values that occur in the society are also the main reason for the structural differentiations. The preservation of values in a society leads to social continuity, the conflict of values leads to social discrepancy and the change of values leads to social transformation. These all show us the role that values play in social system. In addition, the values forming the basis of institutional structure have an important role because they determine the direction of behavior expected from individuals in society. In this direction, we tried to explain in our paper that sociology cannot be independent of the subject of the values and the increasing importance of the sociology in the social structure research.
