VIEWS OF PRESCHOOL TEACHER CANDIDATES ON SOCIAL STUDIES

The purpose of this research is to explore the views of preschool teacher candidates on Social Sciences. The case study model among the qualitative research methods was used in the research. The research sample included 147 thirdand fourth- year students from three different universities who voluntarily participated in the study in the last two weeks of 2013 – 2014 academic years. The participants were sampled through convenience sampling method among the purposive sampling methods. The research data was collected using open – ended questions prepared by the researcher and analyzed through descriptive analysis method. The research results suggested that preschool teacher candidates are quite familiar with and hold positive opinions on Social Sciences. In the light of these results, recommendations concerning classes and activities related to the Social Sciences were made for the preschool education and the preschool undergraduate program.
