WEBER’S AND ÜLGENER’S FUNDAMENTAL APPROACHES TO THE RELATION BETWEEN RELIGION AND ECONOMY

In this study, it is emphasized how religion is positioned when analyzing society and its relation to the economy. In this phase, the example of Turkey is briefly mentioned. Then Max Weber's Protestant Ethic, which is one of the most important names that have spoken about relation of religion and economy is summarized. Main criticisms of Sabri F. Ülgener directed to Max Weber’s Protestan Ethic and also western historians’ viewpoint to the East are discussed. Finally Sabri F. Ülgener's own method about religion and economics is mentioned and an overall assessment has been made about the researches to be carried out about religion and economy.
