Abstract This research paper focuses on Austrian residents with Turkish migration background and on the question which TV programmes the Austrian Public Broadcasting Corporation, ORF, offers for them as a specific target group. In contrast to previous times, Turkish-speaking residents today can participate in the life of their country of origin via satellite TV. Their interests, demands and needs are being catered for by Turkish broadcasting. But this is not the only reason why nativelanguage broadcasters are preferred. Austria’s integration policy, social and cultural differences as well as the ORF’s wilful ignorance are equally important reasons.
