Muhammed Zahid al-Kevseri was one the last mudarrissas educated in Ottoman Emprie. Al-Kevseri, who had a Cherkes family, was obliged to migrate Anatolia from Caucasia. When came to Anatolia, his family settled in Düzce. Al-Kevseri was born in Düzce and took his initial education from his scholar father. Therefore, Al-Kevseri was named also as ‘Düzcevî’ (means ‘from Düzce’). Afterwards, Al-Kevseri went to ?stanbul for his madrassa education and took lessons from the most famuos scholars of the time. After his education, Al-Kevseri gained the degree of mudarris and worked in various madrassa. He also served as an assistant of ?haykh al?slam. In 1922, he was obliged to migrate Egypt. He has a lot of Works through his career of both ?stanbul and Egypt. He has sensitively dwelled upon giving fatwa. In this study, we will discuss the life of Al-Kevseri briefly and his ideas about fatwa in detail.
